Françoise Gaill appointed director of the department of environmental sciences and sustainable development at CNRS

Françoise Gaill, CNRS senior researcher, has been appointed director of the Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Development (EDD) research department, and will take over the position on September 1, 2008. She will be replacing Bernard Delay, the current director, who is retiring but will continue to serve as president of the Fondation française pour la recherche et la biodiversité, created on February 26, 2008. Gaill is currently the scientific representative for international affairs, for both the EDD and Life Sciences (SdV) departments. Beginning September 1st, her top priority will be to set up – by the end of the year – the CNRS Institute that will replace the EDD department.
