Dates Announced for Union Vote at Stanford/Packard Hospitals

For Release: August 11, 2008 STANFORD, Calif-- The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) will hold an election on Sept.10 and Sept. 11 to determine representation for 1,450 employees at Stanford Hospital & Clinics (SHC) and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital (LPCH). "We are pleased that an election has been scheduled," said Lori Curry, vice president of human resources for Stanford Hospital & Clinics. "The Hospitals fully respect the right of our employees to select union representation or to remain independent. Both the law and fairness requires this National Labor Relations Board election." Employees will vote by secret ballot with polling places at both Stanford and Packard hospitals. The NLRB will facilitate and oversee the election and the Hospitals and union will each have employee representatives present to observe the voting process.
