From 15 to 17 May 2008, in premises of the University of Economics in Prague, the European Society for the History of Economic Thought (ESHET) organizes its 12th annual conference, focussed on theories of economic development and transformation. The theme of this year's conference is Development and Transition in the History of Economic Thought. ÄŒSOB is the general partner of the conference. The processes of transition which Central and Eastern European countries have been involved in since the 1990's have generated a mixed record of success and failure. What are the reasons for continuing stagnation in some countries and quick recovery and growth in others? What can we learn from the history of thinking about economic development, which, in a way, gets repeated in cycles?
