Average monthly bill and customer charge to increase COLUMBUS, Ohio — August 6, 2008 — The Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel (OCC) is encouraging customers of Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio to testify about the utility's proposed natural gas delivery rate increase. Vectren has proposed to increase its delivery rates by $27 million per year. The proposed rates vary according to season, so the impact on customers will be different in the summer than in the winter. Based on summer usage of 20 Ccf (hundred cubic feet), this would result in a 10 percent increase to customers' monthly bills. Based on winter usage of 150 Ccf, this would result in a 5.5 percent increase. In addition, Vectren seeks to shift natural gas delivery charges away from being usage-based fees, which would significantly raise the fixed customer charge.
