Braun Melsungen AG has been taken up by many individuals and teams from all disciplines and from renowned university hospitals and institutes. Over 250 ideas have been submitted to the competition, which offers over € 400,000 in prize money. The competition has attracted participants from some 30 countries, including major cities such as Shanghai, Berlin, Rome, Madrid, São Paulo and Mexico City. The competition aims to seek out visionary ideas for the future of surgical wound closure: how will operation wounds be closed in the future? Will there be suture material that is capable of "thinking" and adapting itself to individual situations?
