For 2009-12 the competition format has been re-structured with the introduction of a Group Stage featuring eight groups of four teams and a focus on Thursday nights as the night for UEFA Cup action throughout the majority of the competition. In addition, the sale of the media rights has been fully centralised so that UEFA's media content partners will more effectively be able to deliver UEFA Cup action to their audiences. By concluding media rights agreements with each of Channel Five, ITV 4 and Setanta, UEFA has in turn ensured that fans of European club football in the UK will have unrivalled access to all 205 live UEFA Cup matches each season. Free-to-air commercial broadcaster Channel Five has secured the exclusive rights to the first choice live match in each match week (including the UEFA Cup Final ) as well as a comprehensive highlights programme.
